There are many Pokemon Trading Card Game products, so it can be a bit confusing on where you should start. This guide will help you find the product that is best for you, so let’s get started!

Theme Decks

If you are new to the Pokemon Trading Card Game, you might want to pick up a theme deck for yourself. Theme decks are a great way to learn how to play the game. Included in each theme deck are cardboard damage counters, a two player paper playmat with the rules on it, a custom coin, and a 60 card deck. Each deck is made to teach players the basic mechanics and rules of the game, including things like evolving, how to attack, how to calculate damage, and how to win the game. If you want to shake things up a bit, you can always purchase booster packs to add in some more rare cards to make a better deck.

 Booster

Booster Packs

Booster packs are packs of 10 random cards from each expansion in the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Each pack will contain one rare, three uncommons, one random reverse holo, and five commons. If you’re lucky enough, you will sometimes get a super rare card like a Pokemon EX or a Full Art card. These cards can be used to add cards to a theme deck or any other existing deck you may already have. These are great if you already have a deck, but if you happen to be starting out, these might not be the best product for you. The cards are too random for you to build a working deck, and it would cost too much money buying one pack at a time to make it worth it.

Booster Boxes

If you’re looking to increase the size of your collection or add a great amount of cards to your decks, we recommend buying a sealed booster box. Each booster box contains 36 sealed packs, each containing at least one rare or better. Buying booster boxes increases the chance of you opening multiple super rare cards like EX’s or Full arts, and saves you money in the long run. At full retail, 36 booster packs will cost you $150 plus tax with no guarantee of acquiring good cards, while a booster box will usually cost anywhere from $100-$120 with the increased change of getting really good cards. These are great for anybody who is already a Pokemon Trading Card Game player, or anybody who is looking to acquire a large amount of cards for their collection.
